Week 69: December 10, 2018 - Sign from God and Cinnamon Rolls

We visited a family we found that other missionaries had already passed by. A lady named Sonia answered the door. She said that they were eating dinner, but that she had a daughter who had a super serious problem with her leg. We offered to give her a blessing. She said she would ask. She came back and said that her daughter was too shy. They were eating dinner and we wanted to respect them and get a good start with them so we said we could pass by another day that worked better for them. She said, "no, you can come in for a bit." We accepted right away! She had us sit down and her husband, Antonio, came in and joined us. We got to talking, and they told us more about themselves and their situation with their daughter. they said they let us in because they were passing through a very difficult time. The last time the missionaries came by was another difficult time for them. they said if we had shown up and sooner or any later, we would have missed them!! It was a miracle that we showed up when we did!! They said they took it as a sign from God! It was super neat!!!

We also got to do some visits with the members a ton this week!!! It was so awesome!!! The members here are so great!!! the work is always better with them!!!
We also had an American activity with both branches here on the island. It was so much fun!!! I got to talk a ton to a returning member named Cheila. she is sooo nice!!! She told me a ton about the other missionaries that came onto the island and about the ones that left a special mark on her heart. I played a ton with the kids that were there. There was a ping pong table ad I just went at it with 10 year olds and a 5 year old. It was pretty fun. We also made cinnamon rolls for the activity to bring an American dish. the other elders asked if we could tackle that challenge. It was tons of fun!!!

Well, love you all tons!!! Hope you have a wonderful week!!!

Love,
Elder Barton
