Week 37: April 30,2018 - More of Leandra's Story
Hey there good lookins!!!
Hope you all are doing well!!!
Man, I just feel so blessed to have you all as my family!!! You all are so smart, so happy, so awesome!!! I loved reading all of your letters to me! That is my absolute favorite part of pday, hearing from all of you. Ellie, not gonna lie, you looked marvelous!!! Seriously!!!! Holy cow!!!! That looked like it was so much fun!!! I love hearing all the fun things you all are doing together!!!
We had a few neat miracles this week. Not gonna lie, this week was super slow. I'd never had so much rejection here in Portugal than this week. I felt super bad for my companion. Sort of like a bad start for him. We have some good ideas of how we are going to do better this next week though. We're pretty excited for that. We also had some super cool things happen too though. We met with one of our recent converts at the church to go visit some investigators with her. When we found her, she was standing outside with another guy that we didn't recognize. When we got to them, the man asked of he could pray for like 5 min. We said of course and let him in. He prayed by himself in the chapel. When he finished, we talked to him about the church. He said how he had already investigated and believed that there was more than one church of God. He even brought up by himself that he was studying the Book of Mormon. He didn't want to have visits from us, but we left him with our contact info, and he said that maybe another time he would talk to us. We then walked to some people we had marked some appointments with. As we were walking, we found Anabela, another one of our recent converts and asked if she wanted to go with us. She said yes, but she had to go to her house really quick to drop some stuff off. As we waited, we talked with Leandra, the recent convert we were with. She started saying how that first day we went over and visited her and her family was so important to her. She said how at first she didn't want to be baptized. We asked her why she felt that way and she said that she didn't feel ready. We asked her what made her feel ready and she said that she felt ready after she started to understand the Book of Mormon. I thought that was such a neat story! She said how when she came home, every day leading up to her baptism, her mom and another person that lived with her would just sit down and lecture her and tell her how she shouldn't be baptized, but she stayed strong and didn't let that stop her. I thought that was so cool!!!! Seriously, one of the most incredible stories ever!!!! I then got a phone call while I was talking to them from the elder that I was with for a few days in Sacavem before Elder Gusmão. The Elder Told me how one of the people we taught together was baptized that day!!! Wow!!! So cool!!! It was super neat too because we found him on the street and started off by teaching him the Word of Wisdom. Of all the things we could have started off with, the Word of Wisdom!!! Wow!! so cool!! We then went and visited one of our investigators with Anabela and Leandra. They did such a great job testifying and explaining things. They are natural missionaries!!!
Anyway, it was still a super fun week! Im super happy and loving serving a mission here in Portugal!!! Being fed super well too!!! Learning and growing every day!!! Love you all sooooo much!!!! thanks so much for being the best family ever!!! I couldn't have asked for anything better than my family!!!
Love,
Elder Barton
