Week 48: July 16, 2018 - Keeping God's Commandments

Hey there family!!!!
Happy Happy B-Day Chloe!!!!!!! Love you tons and hope you had the best bday ever!!!! You guys are seriously the best family ever for writing me and saying all those nice things. Seriously love you all soooo much!!!!
So yes, I will be getting transferred. You will hear in the recording where too, but I'll say where at the end of the letter.

We had such a great week!!! We got to help some members in our ward move Saturday morning and got to teach some pretty spectacular lessons. This Sunday, we got to bring a friend to church. Her name is Fernanda. She is a bit older. When we went to pick her up, she had another friend with her that she invited to church!!! So cool!!!! Church went super well!!!!

We also had a super fun, probably the best, companion study this week. Every day, we have to do companionship studies for 30 minutes. To study, Elder Gusmão and I taught the lesson of the Restoration in english! it was super cool and Elder Gusmão is basically fluent in english already!!! Super awesome!!!

We've also had a recurring theme going on for the past while with the Sabbath Day. It is a huge problem here in Portugal. Everyone works on Sunday. It is super sad to know the blessings that these people can receive and to not see them act on their faith. I've gained a huge testimony of the Sabbath day. There are days where we are rushing as fast as we can to get a friend to church and we always make it there just in time to take the sacrament. Such a huge blessing. The Lord always prepares a way for us to be able to keep His commandments. I've also seen how sad life is for people who don't keep the Sabbath. When people start just doing simple things and start putting other stuff above God and church, it gets way easier to be more busy and to make life more complicated.

I know that God gives us every commandments with a blessing in mind. He is trying to make us happier. When we decide not to keep His commandments, life just gets worse and worse. I've seen it in the lives of people here and in my own.

And, for transfers....I'll be serving in Ribeira Grande, in the Azores! Crazy!!!! Will send you photos next pday;)

I really hope you all have such a great week!!! Love you all soooooo much!!!! Best family ever!!!!

Love,
Elder Barton

Taggert is headed here (where the red pin is at).  He is just over 900 miles from Lisbon:

Fun news! Heavenly Father is directing his path. Good thoughts about the sabbath. I love it.
