Week 46: July 2, 2018
Dear Family,
Hey hey!!! wow!!! you all looked like angels in the photos at Beau´s wedding!!! cant believe he´s already married!!! Sounds like the Carlsbad trip is going well!!! you all are so awesome!!! thanks so much for writing me!!! Makes me feel so good!!! Love it!!!
Elder Nichols and I went on splits this week. It was so awesome!!! Elder Nichols is companions with Elder Davis, my previous companion. It was so much fun!!! we spent the whole day with this one member named Marcelo. He is 17 and will soon be going on a mission. Marcelo is a super stud!!! He would just go out to any person and start teaching the gospel!! he had no fear to talk about God. I thought that was so neat!! He´ll certainly be a better missionary than me. Elder Nichols was a super stud too!!! This is his 3rd transfer here and he speaks super well!!! I guarantee he was a super genius before the mission! hahaha!! we taught a ton of powerful lessons and certainly had a strong spirit with us!!!
I've noticed how the spirit works so much better through us when we are not afraid and we have confidence in God. Im trying super hard to be more confident in God and never doubt. Even when I doubt in myself, Im doubting in God because he trusted in me and gave me what I needed to be in that situation, to be here. Thats been probably my hardest struggle, but love all the things we get to learn on a mission!!!!
We were blessed with two baptisms this week, Delcio and Delio. they are so awesome! We had actually been teaching them for a super long time! The sisters were actually the ones who found them. they ended up just letting us teach them. We had been teaching them for a long time, but there wasn't really anything that was clicking with them. We planned a lot for them and thought how we could help them.
Creativity is so important on the mission! I would say it is one of the most important things we develop here on earth. It is truly a godlike quality. we have to find what will help people the most and do things differently. With a lot of investigators, you think that other missionaries have done the same things over and over hoping to get a different result. We talked to their mom, Jeni. We got her super excited about leading her family in the right direction. She was awesome and totally committed to talking to her family about church and baptism. Elder Gusmão and Elder Egbert went back another day to do the baptismal interview and stuff. It went super well!!!! Jeni was awesome, and Delcio and Delio were super excited!!!! Elder Gusmão baptized Delcio and I got to baptize Delio. Delio is so awesome!!!
I kept thinking of him as Carter. It made everything so much more special with him. We actually played some futsal with Delio and Delcio today and they are studs!!! Delio was so good at futsal!!! Futsal is basically soccer on concrete. Delio was like Carter at basketball, super stud!!! When Delio was baptized, he came up and out of the water, wiped his face off, and looked around at all the people with a serious face. Then, he started giving himself a round of applause!!!!! hahahaha!!! It was so funny!!! All the people there started laughing!!! I'd never seen anything like that before, but I loved it. When we got out of the font and out the door on the back, Delio turned around and reached out his arms to give me a hug. I gave him a huge hug right back. It was so awesome!!! Made me feel so happy for him!!!
Love you all sooooooo much!!!! Best family ever!!!!!!! You all are such a huge blessing to me and many others!!!!
Love always,
Elder Barton
