Week 89: May 2, 2019 - Simple Things
Dear Family,
I hope you are doing well! I love you all soooo much!!! I can't say it enough!
It seemed like the theme this week for me was simplicity. I heard once that it is the simple things that bring us the most joy.
I feel like I've seen that a lot in the mission now that I think about it. I've noticed that it applies to all things, even the things that I would not have expected, like simple conversations, simple study topics, simple dress, simple food;), simple moments, etc.
I feel like God is super simple. He uses simple and small things to make great things come to pass.
I notice a lot in my teaching or even when I talk to people. If I go overboard on anything, it almost feel like the spirit departs. Even just when talking to people, there is a moment where I feel like that's enough. Of course there's the complete opposite though which is not saying enough. But, that was just something that was on my mind recently.
There was a neat moment this week where Elder Doughman and I went to pick up some missionaries from President and Sister Fillmore's home as they were successfully finishing their missions and having a send off dinner with President and his wife. It was the end of the day, and they welcomed us in to have some of the left overs from the dinner. President was still finishing his interviews with the missionaries going home. Sister Fillmore sat down with us at the table and told us how she and President met. It was a funny story. Then President came in after his last interview with one of the Sisters. They were both full of tears. President is so tenderhearted and so close to the spirit, one of the biggest things I admire of him. He came in just as Sister Fillmore finished the story and then he recounted his version of the story. It was even funnier after hearing Sister Fillmore's version. They are so nice. I feel so lucky to have them as our President and wife leading the mission; probably the greatest privilege of working in the office is getting to know them better.
