Week 82: March 15, 2019 - Being Served In The Service
Dear Family,
Hey there!!! How yall doin? We had an amazing week!!! I felt super super spoiled this week!!!
On the 13th, we had a bunch of chores to do in the morning, but we went with the Marriotts and they took us out to get breakfast for my birthday! It was so nice of them!!! Elder Marriott even sang happy birthday to me. (I saved the video in my google drive if you want to see it). We got back a while later and the elders surprised me - there were a bunch of surprises that day - and took me out to a place called "Ribs and Company."
Oh man, it was soooo good!!! Elder Shriber payed for my meal and everything!!! So nice of him!!! We got back to the office and the sisters had put my name tag and a note saying happy bday in jello on my desk, like the Office with Dwight´s stapler.
Super funny! The highlight of the day was when I got to call Mom. She's the best!!! I loved talking to her! She always knows how to make me feel so happy:) We then went on a split with the zone leaders in our area. It was awesome! Elder Fajardo was my companion for the night. He taught me a bunch of neat things. I remember a pretty funny thing happened: Elder Fajardo and I were walking on the street and we went up to contact this guy walking in the opposite direction. Before we could get a word out, he, without stopping, put up his hand and said, "nope, I'm tired!" Elder Fajardo and I couldn't stop laughing!!! That was just the funniest, most blunt excuse I'd heard yet! hahahaha!!!
We got back to the office and the sisters were waiting outside. They then had me open a letter saying that I had been accepted to the office Olympics!!! They had a few office Olympic games planned and surprised me with a ton of Gluten Free treats!!! It was so awesome!!! I loved it!!!
I honestly felt so spoiled!!! Even while I and serving Heavenly Father, He spoils me. And yet, I thought the mission was a sacrifice. Not even close!
I hope you all know how much I love you and how thankful I am for you!!! So blessed!!! Best family ever!!!
Love always,
Elder Barton

Hey there!!! How yall doin? We had an amazing week!!! I felt super super spoiled this week!!!
God treated me extra special for my birthday week! We had two meals with members last pday! The last meal was an Angolan dish that they make with peanut butter!!! So good!!! We also had a neat spiritual moment in the office on Sunday. Elder Shriber asked us if we wanted to be spiritually reenergized after 3 minutes of our time. Elder Doughman and I ... "uuuhhh, YA!" Elder Shriber told us a neat experience that happened to him while he was in Porto. The spirit was really strong in the room. I remember just looking up at a picture of Christ in the room and just being super happy. That moment felt like a present form Heavenly Father.

To bring the spirit back, we were knocking on an apartment that night and a man named Duarte answered the door. He said he was open to hear our message but that he was a pretty critical person. It was pretty funny. He listened very closely to our message. He did have a lot to say, but he still listened and wanted to know more. It was a neat moment. I felt impressed to say and reinforce a few things while we were talking, especially about family. He had a daughter and his wife and mom home. Elder Fajardo taught super well. He is a super dedicated missionary! He has a ton of spiritual stamina.
