Week 75: January 24, 2018 - Constant Companionship
Lots of work in the office this week. We had so little time to leave and visit people! Its very different being in the office. Its a different kind of work. I feel like it is a great opportunity to learn.
I'm learning a ton from my new companion and the other missionaries in the office with me. They are so amazing!!!! They are seriously such great examples to me! Elder Hawkins is super awesome!!! I love how patient and loving he is. You can see how much love he has for the work and the people by the way he treats others.
We got to leave yesterday and visit a member family and an investigator. When we got there, they were so nice to us, and the member family had invited another neighbor to be there. It was so cool! they all said they'd go to church and all. As we were leaving, the member, Cordêncio, stopped us and and told us to come with him. He then presented us to another family that lived by! The family said they'd go to church too!!! Super exciting!!! This member, Cordêncio, apparently was given at least 30 Books of Mormon and gave all away to friends and colleagues he had! Missionary member power!!!!!
I also got to give a talk this Sunday about learning to recognize the spirit. I told a funny story I had with a prompting I received from the spirit and then talked about how we can recognize the spirit earlier and how we can help others to recognize the spirit. An interesting thing that stood out to me when I was preparing my talk: if we are not always paying attention to the spirit - letting other distractions get in the way, we'll miss those little whispers from the Spirit and won't hear them until we have turned our minds and our hearts to the Spirit. It was actually super neat too that Mom sent me that talk from Elder Uchtdorf "Can You Hear the Music?" It talks a lot about that too. I've seen that a lot with me. There are times where I get too nervous or stressed about things or I focus on things that in the moment I may think are more important and I will miss promptings from the spirit and lose its companionship. The Spirit is one of the greatest gifts God can give us which is a super interesting and makes me think super differently about how much I cherish the gift of the Holy Ghost and how much more I should do to have it always with me.
Love you all tons!!! Hope you have such a wonderful week!!!
Love,
