Week 42: June 4, 2018 - Simplicity & Priority
Dear family!!!
How's it goin on the other side of the pond???
Sounds like you all had such a great week!!! Bet you all are so happy to be done with school stress!! hahaha! Now it's on to the summer sport camp stress!! hahahaha!!!
We had some super neat experiences this week with some of our investigators and recent converts. We went to this one investigator's home with a member named Andre. We sat down together to talk to Bruno. Bruno has shown interest here and there but is always super busy with school and work. We got to talking about baptism with him. Andre said how he was baptized later in his life, but both Elder Gusmão and I were baptized at the age of 8. Bruno asked if it was easier for us because of that. We went on to say that we still had to gain our own testimonies. Andre said straight up how Bruno could ask either one of us if we believed what we were teaching. There was a little pause as Bruno looks back and forth at both of us. I then bore my testimony just simply stating what I knew was true. The spirit was super strong. I got a little teary. At the end of the lesson, Andre told us how that was one of the most powerful lessons he had been in. It was a super neat experience and a testimony builder of the power of a simple testimony.
Also, just this Sunday, our baptism, Teresa, was going to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I called her to see how she was doing. She said she wouldn't be able to make it to church the next day because her daughter had to go to the clinic for something. I got pretty stressed out, not gonna lie. I told her the importance of having the gift of the Holy Ghost, how it's the greatest gift we can receive in this life and how baptism is not complete without the gift of the Holy Ghost. She then said how she would be able to make it for the first part. She ended up making it and staying for all of church. It was such a blessing and a miracle that she made it. Her daughter going to the clinic could have been a pretty legit reason, but she was able to get it all worked out and make it to church. Another testimony builder of putting God first always and seeing how He will always prepare a way before us. Super neat!!!
Love you all tons!!! Just got the packages!!!! you all are so sweet!!! Love you so much!!!!!
Know that Im praying for all of you and I love you all so much!!!! I feel your love and support every day!!! Best family ever!!!
Love always,
Elder Barton
