Week 28: February 26, 2018
Hey there good lookin family!!!!
Hows it goin?!?!?! you all sounds like you are doing well. You all are such huge inspiration to me!!!! Love hearing (reading) from you all!!!!
We had some pretty neat miracles happen this week. We get letters from our president every week and I really try to implement them. He talked about serving with all our heart, might, mind and strength. That is much MUCH easier said than done, hahaha! I really thought about my purpose when I read that and what I wanted to accomplish during the time the LORD has given me to serve Him. I decided to really put myself out there and act on first promptings. It was one of the greatest missionary work weeks ever because of that! We found and taught tons of new people this week!!!
I remember a few of these neat little experiences we had when I followed these impressions. We were waiting at this one bus stop pretty far from our area and I felt the impression to start doing contacts. I started with this younger lookin fella that was standing a little off to the side from us. I just started talking to him and he was super awesome and respectful. He was Carter's age and was super fun to talk to!!!! We rode the bus together and even got to give him and Book of Mormon and a pamphlet after explaining a few things. He was super respectful and gave us a handshake with a big smile on his face after we gave him the Book of Mormon.
There was this other time we were walking back from a lunch we had with some members to go back to our house and do some studies. I saw this one guy and felt that I should talk to him. He was super cool and super friendly! He was atheist but was super positive with us and super open to hear. We got to teach him the whole restoration on the street and he was super accepting of it. It felt more like a conversation, which is the best type of lesson, and it answered a lot of his questions. It was super neat!!!! Later that day, we had a bunch more lessons and my companion and I were walking back and he said that he really felt like a missionary in that moment. It was super neat!!!!
Missionary work is so inspired!!! I feel like we are really guided by the spirit in everything we do. We literally confirm everything with the spirit whether it be which area we should work in one day or which apartment we should knock on. Its super neat and also makes it obvious why we have to be so obedient and have to always study and be worthy of the spirit. The spirit is so delicate.
Prayer is meaning so much to me during this time I have to serve the LORD. One other thing that I have seen tons of miracles from is fasting!!! It is seriously so neat to see the difference in the days we fast and the days, well, that we don't fast. We fasted earlier this week with our mission and saw tons of miracles. We literally went to and fro just finding people in perfect moments. We went into this one guys home and he was seriously elect!!!! He normally doesn't talk to us about religion and just blows it off, but he let us in and literally opened up to us and asked us question that we had exactly the answers for in our lessons!!! It was such a neat fasting miracle!!!! We had such a smooth conversation!!!
Yesterday, one of our long time investigators committed to be baptized this Saturday!!!! She has literally been investigating for 2 years! We are fasting for her rn and hoping she stays strong. We visited her this morning and she seems to be strong, but we need to accompany her really good to make sure that nothing happens to her. I've noticed how much happier I am when I fast too. I should be cranky and super sad because not eating food in a little while is my weakness, hahaha, but I've noticed how the power of the spirit is so much stronger than our natural selves. It literally changes us for the better!
Anyway, thats my little thought for the week. Love you all tons!!! Hope you all are doing well!!!! Best family ever!!!!!
Love,
Elder Barton
