Week 8: October 10, 2017
I love reading all of the updates on you guys. Dont have much time, so I'll start rn.
I'm just going to go over the highlights of the week.
On Pday, we walked and ran in to a guy who was a returned missionary, very old, and left the church a while back. He had a lot of concerns about the church, specifically Joseph Smith. I listened to the talks about Joseph smith that I have on my player and am currently getting the other missionaries into it. It is so neat that I "coincidentally" (though there are no coincidences), have a talk about Joseph giving me a testimony and answers to specific questions he had. I have not run into him yet, we could only give him our number and could not get his contact info. but, I am hoping I will be prepared next time I meet him.
That also brings me to another experience we had. We were knocking doors before an appointment we had with like 5 min left. We walked up to a door and saw a ton of people around in a circle on the floor of the house. The screen door was the only thing between us and them and one of the guys looked at us and yelled to come in. He was super warm and friendly. Turns out it was a bible study group. they asked us to join them. we said we did not have much time but that we would like to share a message with them. They said yes as long as they could share one with us. we went first. I bore my testimony on the restoration of the gospel really quick and on the book of mormon, we also have them all temple cards and invited them to the meridian temple. when we finished, one of the members in the circle asked why we needed the book of mormon. I said something like they testify of each other and both bring the fullness of the gospel. Then he asked more specifically why we need the book of mormon if all the truths are found in the bible. I told him we believe the bible to be correct as far as it is translated correctly then bore my personal witness of the book of mormon. they didnt leave us with a message, so we left the house and went to our appointment the next couple houses down. Turns out, the guy that invited us in was a pasture! I felt like I could have answered that guy's question so much better!!!! I have been studying that question ever since, and I think I am starting to get a better understanding/response in my head.
We also had dinner at a members home, one of the first dinners after officially going gluten free, and the mom there had a sister who was gluten free!!! so, she knew how to make some delicious gluten free food!!!! what a blessing!!!! I have given God so little, and yet, He continues to give me so much!
All the families here are super nice!!! I cant wait to get to know them better!
