Week 84: March 29, 2019 - God's Hand In His Work

Image
Dear Family, Well, a lot of work this week with transfers!!! Elder Doughman and I had fun with that!! hahaha! We got to see a ton of missionaries which was fun. We were actually so busy with transfers and getting everything ready and then having it actually happen. I'm so blessed to see the hand of the Lord in His work while here in the office. Without Him, I'm positive nothing would not have worked out. If I had not taken care of something or if I had forgotten, it seemed like the Lord had a plan already to fix that. So neat!!! I actually don't have very many other thoughts for this week to be honest. I am super happy to be here on the mission and to be able to serve God. There are many things I'm sure that I take for granted. God has given me much, and because of that, I must give too. I love you all so much!!!! Hope you all have a wonderful week and a fun trip ;) Love always, Elder Barton Pics of the week: Me with CordĂȘncio, a member from the ward that will leave ...

Week 83: March 22, 2019 - Blessings of Rain

Dear Family, Well another marvelous week gone by. Elder Doughman and I are still having amazing adventures here together in Benfica. We had more time to visit some people in our area book. We got to visit this one person named Joel. He was super awesome!!! He let us in and we sat down by his cousin while he was playing a video game. Joel had already talked to the missionaries before we found him. We got to talking and it seemed to get more and more comfortable the more we got to know each other. We showed him and his cousin a video from the church media channel on their tv called blessings of rain (I think in English). We asked them at the end what they learned. They said how they didn't understand the video. I think that was fault on my part. I should have explained it better to them before. But, it seemed like we were able to pick it up after. I tried to open them up a bit more and asked them what blessings they would like to receive. Joel said intelligence and more time to...

Dear Family, Hey there!!! How yall doin? We had an amazing week!!! I felt super super spoiled this week!!! God treated me extra special for my birthday week! We had two meals with members last pday! The last meal was an Angolan dish that they make with peanut butter!!! So good!!! We also had a neat spiritual moment in the office on Sunday. Elder Shriber asked us if we wanted to be spiritually reenergized after 3 minutes of our time. Elder Doughman and I ... "uuuhhh, YA!" Elder Shriber told us a neat experience that happened to him while he was in Porto. The spirit was really strong in the room. I remember just looking up at a picture of Christ in the room and just being super happy. That moment felt like a present form Heavenly Father.  On the 13th, we had a bunch of chores to do in the morning, but we went with the Marriotts and they took us out to get breakfast for my birthday! It was so nice of them!!! Elder Marriott even sang happy birthday to me. (I saved the vi...
