Image
We were just given a second to write our families and basically say we are alive. A few things to note: pday is on monday, join the facebook page idahoboisemissionfriendsandfamily1, my pen from Uncle Chuck ran out of ink, I need a few things just for medical stuff - digital thermometer, hydrocortisone 1% ointment, ace elastic 4" wrap, and I have everything else (that medical stuff was just things that our mission doctor told us to get, I have everything else that he told us to get). Also, send packages usps so they can be forwarded. That's all I have and was told to ask and tell you. Love you guys so much!!! We already started handing out cards for the temple!!! We are also staying in a hotel tonight! The mission president is awesome!!! Love it here! Will talk to you on monday!!! Love, Elder B

We got to talk with Elder Barton today when he was in the airport.  We all stayed home today waiting for his call and it was well worth it!

Hey family!!!!!!! All is good here in Provo! So, yes, that temporary assignment change was pretty crazy huh!!! Boise Idaho!!!! I'm super excited about it! Although, I packed for Portugal, so I might get a little cold in Boise haha!!! I thought this last Monday was going to be the last time going to the temple, but nope!!! We got to go today!!! It was awesome!!! Tuesday , we got to hear a talk from Elder Cook!!! It was super neat, and he bore testimony of Christ that, "I have heard his voice, and I have seen his face." Wow! It was such a specific description of witness! We also started in field training, and we talked about setting goals. The whole time, I thought about dad teaching me how to set SMART goals and all that kind of professional stuff. I loved it! Wednesday , we got to do hosting for new people entering the MTC. In other words, we picked them up and took them to their rooms and classes. Our district signed up because we wanted to host really bad. I reall...

Week 5.5: Surprise news

Hey family! This is an emergency email. Nothing bad, dont worry. So this morning, we found out that our visas didnt come in. So, as you might guess, that means we will temporarily be serving somewhere else until we get our visas. It wasnt until lunch that we got our calls, well temporary calls. When I got the mail, I handed out everyone's mail, making sure not to peak at our new assignments. We all got together and had each person read like we were all getting our mission calls for the first time. I made sure to get pictures; I'll send them to you later. We went one person at a time. People were reading their calls, and everyone was getting super excited when they read. It got to my turn. I flipped it open. I read it out loud: "Dear Elder Barton, at this time, we have not received your visa to travel to your mission. You will be serving a temporary assignment in the Idaho Boise Mission." Wow! Crazy! Woodwards, here I come!!!! I am super excited!!!!!  So, from wh...

Hey Family!!!!! Well, here's to week 5!!! Almost there!!!! So,  Tuesday , we were already getting new sheets!!! (we get new sheets weekly) So crazy!!! Time is flying by so fast!!! Also, Elder White got pink eye!!!! When we went to class, I scoot my desk away, and we put the hand sanitizer on his desk. It was pretty funny! Sickness spreads like wildfire here!!! Our trio went on splits during class: Elder Mortensen stayed with the elders in the class, and I went with Elder White to the doctor. I sat down in the waiting area while they diagnosed Elder White, though it seemed pretty obvious what he had. I just read my scriptures the whole time; it was awesome! I am actually really enjoying reading my scriptures like never before. I really wish I would have had more diligence in reading my scriptures before my mission, but, better now than never!! Elder White came back. Yup, it was pink eye. He was told he needed eye drops, so we were told to go to the BYU pharmacy later that day. S...

Hello family!!!! Awesome week this week! So, starting M onday , I got to go run with Elder Brooks, an awesome elder that went to a military school. He is fun to work out with because he is so disciplined and fun to talk to. I've actually been really getting to know a lot of the elders in our zone, especially in my district. Our previous district leader, Elder Pehrson, is super cool. I feel like he and I really get along well. He is with the missionaries in our zone that are going to Cape Verde though. It's gonna be super hard saying goodbye to everyone when we all have to leave the MTC. I feel like we really are a family! Strange how fast the MTC has gone by. We only have 2 more weeks and then it's out to the mission field. We also got to teach Miguel, our atheist "investigator." It was awesome! I bore my testimony of the atonement and felt the spirit really strong. Awesome news,  Tuesday , Elder Oaks spoke to us!! So crazy!!! When we have an apostle coming to...

Hey Family!!!! Wow, the MTC has been amazing!!! I feel like I have been learning so much!!!! So, after I emailed you last on PDAY, we had Brother Jones, aka Mateus, teach for class at night. It was awesome!!! He actually spoke English which was so weird to hear!!! He told us about his girlfriend when he went to Cali!!! Super cool! I also got to see Elder Birchall at gym time and talk to him which was fun. It sounds like he is doing really well. The next day, we got to teach in something called TRC (teacher resources center) which is basically a thing where we are assigned random members to "home teach," so in other words, people we have never met before. We had to teach them in Portuguese. We were a little shaky at first, but then we got on it and started teaching super well. I've really been noticing the gift of tongues; we had like a whole casual conversation with the first person. Then, it got even better! The next person we taught, we were so in tune with the spirit...
